GRR 3 - Zebedee Springs

Zebedee Springs - El Questro- series of thermal pools linked by little waterfalls.

After a relaxing morning at Zebedee Springs and 3 nights at El Questro it was time to tackle the Gibb River Road again. Today would be the challenging day - 2 river crossings. No road updates from El Questro so we headed off secure in the knowledge that the first crossing would be about 500mm - the car should be fine! We were shocked when we arrived at the Pentecost River to see the size - it was huge and we could just see the tail end of a trailer coming out the other end. It was a family we had met at El Questro - what a relief to see that they had made it and were waiting on the other side for us. We had of course missed seeing them cross so didn't know quite how deep it would be. Well the 500mm was definitely not correct - much deeper than that!

Michael looking nervous as we took on the Pentecost River - it was like driving through a flood!

Head lights dipping - deeper than anticipated but we did actually make it through. Very nerve racking - kids thought it was fantastic! So relieved to reach the other side in one piece - just one slight problem, water leaking in under passenger side - luckily trailer stayed dry! What to expect at the Durack River crossing as that was supposed to be deeper! All went well and we travelled safely with the other family who went first as the guinea pigs. The other river not nearly as wide or as deep so great relief.
